Our purpose.

Sharing our Legacy Dance Theatre (SOL) is a performing group of university students, led by Artistic Director Dr. Lynnette Young Overby, that uses interdisciplinary art to bring powerful stories from the past to audiences of all ages.

Created under the Community Engagement Initiative at the University of Delaware, undergraduate and graduate SOL members conduct research on African-American history to add meaningful foundations to their performances and work with outside collaborators like historical researchers, guest choreographers, composers and artists, as well as educational organizations to further enhance the production.

Dedicated to our communities, we bring our productions to local theaters, churches, events for social and professional organizations, educational conferences, and schools across Delaware and beyond.
